AtoN renewal in ports and yacht clubs
15-09-2021
Several Spanish marinas and yacht clubs have renewed their marine aids to navigation during this summer season 2021. Almarin has carried out the inspection and assessment of various ports and clubs. Among the actions carried out, both the development of the project and the subsequent adaptation of the beacons to the current regulations of Puertos del Estado (public entity which regulates port facilities) have been executed.
Most of the works have been carried out on the Mediterranean coast, as well as in the Balearic and Canary Islands. Among the main projects, the updating of the marking of the Port of Playa Blanca, in Lanzarote. The public entity Puertos Canarios has updated the maritime beacons of this port, which had two fixed signals and three provisional cardinal marks subject to the expansion of the port; after its completion in July 2021, Puertos del Estado requested to establish a definitive marking. For this reason, Almarin, through the UTE Playa Blanca, has carried out the calculations subject to the Puertos del Estado guide and has supplied all the beacons in accordance with these regulations.
Almarin has also carried out the updating and improvement of marking by delivering different maritime towers on the islands of Menorca and Mallorca, as well as in coastal locations on the peninsula, in the Community of Catalonia, such as Mataró, Empuriabrava and Roses. Several towers have been supplied in a modular way to facilitate their transport and installation.
Almarin is in charge of carrying out the entire process, from identifying deficiencies in the facilities that do not comply with the new regulations, recommending improvements and preparing the executive project to the supply of equipment and, if necessary, its installation. The engineers analyze each project and adapt the equipment that best suits the environment and the requirements of the port.
To update the maritime marking of a port, a well-prepared action program must be properly designed: decision-making must begin in September to have the work defined until the end of the year; during the first quarter of the following year, the project should be carried out for the set-up for the summer season.
Almarin works closely with Port Authorities, marinas, marinas and nautical clubs to improve marine aids to navigation in ports and thus increase their safety in navigation, following the recommendations of Puertos del Estado and IALA.
