The Setúbal City Council installs a large fixed dock in Portinho da Arrábida (Portugal)
06-06-2019
Within the work of the Portinho da Arrábida rehabilitation and enhancement project, the Setúbal City Council has installed a 50-meter-long fixed quay-bridge for the temporary mooring of recreational and maritime-tourist boats that visit the Arrábida protected area. Lindley has been responsible for the manufacture and installation of the dock.
The project has presented many technical and aesthetic challenges, among them the depth, which is very small at the margin; the tide, four meters; the location is quite exposed; in addition, the area is integrated into a protected natural park, which required detailed studies and the analysis and experimentation of different solutions before its construction.
This fixed pier, made of painted galvanized structural steel, is supported by metal stakes fixed to the seabed so as not to use a current system that would destroy the underwater flora. In addition, it has access stairs and mooring platforms for boats, emergency stairs, pavement lighting and emergency service towers.
