07-01-2025
The Public Ports Agency of Andalusia (APPA) has undertaken a significant improvement in the onshore beacons of the ports of La Atunara, Fuengirola, and Estepona to enhance safety. This initiative was carried out to comply with the resolution of Spanish State Ports and following the recommendations of the IALA. Almarin, the company awarded the public tender, not only provided new marine aids to navigation but also adapted existing signals to the required technical specifications.
At the Port of Fuengirola, in Málaga, two signals had their marine lanterns replaced, while new onshore beacons and lighting equipment were installed on three other signals, improving the system's efficiency and visibility. At the Port of Estepona, in Málaga, two signals were replaced, and two others were rehabilitated. These interventions included the addition of access ladders and, in one case, a topmark to improve accessibility and visibility. Finally, at the Port of La Atunara, in Cádiz, three beacons were replaced, and two were rehabilitated. One of these, a beacon located on the breakwater, was repainted and equipped with a new lantern and topmark. The other signal, located at the end of the breakwater, was repainted to comply with current regulations, equipped with new lighting equipment, and required the demolition of the screen wall and replacement of the upper railing.
