Renewal of the fishing area of Port of Mahón, in Menorca
29-05-2023
Port Authority of the Balearic Islands has just completed the renovation of the floating fishing infrastructure at the Dock of Ponent in the Port of Mahon, Menorca. Almarin, through Serpro-sub (Submarine Professional Services, Ltd.), the winning bidder of the public tender, has provided the port with a total of 36 linear meters of concrete pontoons, as well as an 8-meter-long aluminum access gangway, both manufactured by Lindley. These pontoons stand out for not having any metal parts on the surface and having a perimeter beam that allows the placement of bollards, making them adaptable to possible future uses. Therefore, the fishing industry will benefit from enhanced conditions for loading and unloading operations.
Concrete pontoons are used to dock heavy and large-sized vessels. This type of floating equipment, due to its robustness and stability, as well as its high overload capacity, is usually installed to serve the fishing business, among other possible applications.
