The Amarante City Council has awarded Lindley the supply and installation of floating pontoons at the Ínsua dos Frades, in the historic area of Amarante. The city council has initiated a Tâmega River Protection Plan, with the first phase aimed at revitalizing the river area.
The project includes the supply and installation of two sets of floating pontoons, with lengths of 30m and 24m, featuring a structure made of marine-grade aluminum, Nordic pine floor, and rotationally molded polyethylene floats. The goal has been to facilitate mobility between the left bank of the Tâmega River and the island, as well as ensuring connectivity between two interior points on the island. According to the city council, the docks will be open to the public between May and September, depending on the water flow conditions.
Lindley's experience in custom solutions has been crucial in this project, involving the selection of a lightweight, easily removable equipment suitable for pedestrian traffic. The design of a simple mooring system, in line with the river's characteristics, and the project for the connection between the dock and the land to support anchoring loads have also been decisive factors. After completing the first phase of intervention, the second phase is expected to begin shortly, involving operations to preserve and clean exotic and invasive plant species and the future expansion of infrastructure to other riverside areas.
